Jonathan Barnes Furniture Pte. Ltd. was established in 2018, providing full life-cycle furniture services and exclusive collections to our wholesale and retail customers.  

The early years were in manufacturing of custom home interiors in Cape Town,  South Africa,  under the name of Bauhaus Kitchens and Interiors.    Our bespoke kitchen, living and bedroom furniture was sold and installed as far afield as in Rome and London.   

In 2016, an opportunity arose to work with factories in Asia, directing the Product Development and Quality for export furniture.   Two years later we established our own company, with a focus on providing value adding  furniture services and select collections in reclaimed pine.   We’ve grown to understand the manufacturing environment in Vietnam over the years  and built our relationships with many factories.

However, there are some fairly immoveable boundaries in the design, construction and finishing of pine and reclaimed pallet wood.   Some styles just need hardwoods and veneers, different textures and wood grains.   It’s with this desire to do more, create more beautiful, make more lasting, but still retain a great value proposition, that the Ohnya collection was born.

Ohnya is our newest collection of living room occaisional furniture in solid oak and veneers.  Launched in January 2026,  it marks a special milestone in a 35 year journey of furniture development.  The name Ohnya has meaning too.   It’s an english spelling of the Vietnamese for ‘being at home’ or ở nhà.   For us, this has many meanings, and for our customers, we strive to create furniture that is beautiful, relaxed and lasting.   

Our business is located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and is managed by our family team.   I am joined by Jovidon Khojaev in manufacturing quality and Tâm Hùynh in our factory relationships.   We look forward to supporting you and your customers with excellent products and service.
